Antioxidant activity of total flavonoids from Radix Cudraniae

Abstract

Abstract: In order to study the antioxidant activity of total flavonoids from Radix Cudraniae, taking vitamin C as positive control, the antioxidant activity of total flavones from Radix Cudraniae was determined by different methods, including Fenton reaction, self-oxidation of 1, 2, 3-phentriolassay method and DPPH radical-scavengings. The results show that the flavonoids from Radix Cudraniae have very strong scavenging capabilities for hydroxyl radical, superoxide anion and DPPH free radical, their EC₅₀ values are 2.33, 2.15 and 0.27 μg/mL, respectively, and the EC₅₀ of vitamin C scavenging capabilities for hydroxyl radical, superoxide anion and DPPH free radical are 12.88, 7.76 and 11.23 μg/mL, respectively.
