Antioxidant activity of total flavonoids from Radix Cudraniae

Abstract: In order to study the antioxidant activity of total flavonoids from Radix Cudraniae, taking vitamin C as positive control, the antioxidant activity of total flavones from Radix Cudraniae was determined by different methods, including Fenton reaction, self-oxidation of 1, 2, 3-phentriolassay method and DPPH radical-scavengings. The results show that the flavonoids from Radix Cudraniae have very strong scavenging capabilities for hydroxyl radical, superoxide anion and DPPH free radical, their EC50 values are 2.33, 2.15 and 0.27 μg/mL, respectively, and the EC50 of vitamin C scavenging capabilities for hydroxyl radical, superoxide anion and DPPH free radical are 12.88, 7.76 and 11.23 μg/mL, respectively.
